Ordering stone before cabinet heights are set. Changing sink models after the top is cut. Assuming remnant stickers equal finished usable size. Skipping a seam discussion on long runs. Each of these creates rework that a clear checklist prevents.
Do you supply and fabricate? We fabricate and install tops for jobs we produce. Ask which supporting products we can include in the same scope.
Can I buy remnants without install? Ask about current policy. Many remnants still need professional cutting for a clean sink and edge.
Share appliance model numbers early when cooktops, farmhouse sinks, or specialty faucets are involved. Cutout libraries are not universal, and field surprises on install day are expensive. If your contractor is supplying cabinets, ask them to confirm heights and scribe allowances before template day so stone and wood arrive as one plan.
For remodels, photograph existing tops and note what you disliked—too few overhangs, a chip-prone edge, a seam in the wrong place. Those notes often matter more than browsing another catalog page.
